“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day.” -Audrey Hepburn ♥
Hi everyone! My name is Emily Bratkovich, yes like the movie Erin Brockovich. I’m a fun lovin Minnesoooootan with several passions, one being social media: the primary reason I started this blog. I’ve always loved connecting with others and meeting new people. It has always been my nature to reach out and try to relate to whomever I meet. I took this into consideration when deciding on a college major.
I knew I wanted nothing to do with math (haha, I’m horrible…) or science…(didn’t realize marine biology required chemistry). After growing up in Minnesota my whole life I wanted a taste of the west coast and chose Arizona State University for the notable Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication (no, sorry I did not go there just to go party!).
I gained valuable experience while in Arizona doing several internships that allowed me do some amazing things. I first did promotions for a Phoenix radio station where I got my first taste of meeting musicians, organizing meet & greets and working at awesome concerts like Warped Tour. Next, I worked as public relations intern for 944 Magazine, an entertainment and nightlife magazine where I most enjoyed coordinating high profile events like NBA All Star Weekend, Scottsdale Fashion Week and more.
In the midst of this job, I had the opportunity to work at Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, AZ. This was definitely a highlight of mine because it combined my love of sports and PR as I got to work in the press box that night. I moved on to become president of ASU’s P.R.S.S.A (Public Relations Student Society of America) which was a very positive experience and allowed me to test my leadership and communication skills.
Finally, during my senior year I worked for NBC Universal in their Campus U program. A challenging but exciting job, I created marketing campaigns, planned and promoted all of the advanced screenings such as The Fourth Kind, Get Him To The Greek, Macgruber and Funny People.
I graduated in May 2010 with a B.A. in Mass Communication & Journalism with a PR emphasis & Media/Film Studies Minor. I moved back home to Minnesooooooota to be with family and begin the daunting task of job hunting. In the fall of 2010 I started a social media virtual internship for Simply Green Solutions, an eco company in Pasadena, CA. I became passionate about blogging, began tweeting and that’s where my Seattle Twitter story all began!
